While the pandemic did shut down much of the entertainment industry, more and more theatre and film projects are returning every day. Janine hopes to be able to possibly return to performing sometime soon.

May 2022

Janine played Hermia in a staged reading of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream at San Pedro Square in San Jose. This ShakesBEERience event was a collaboration between Silicon Valley Shakespeare and Buck Hill Productions.

As winner of the 2020 San Jose 48 Hour Film Project with their short film Running, Team Ovation Pictures competed at Filmapalooza 2021. Due to the pandemic, this international event was hosted virtually.

Although the pandemic shut down much of the film and theatre industry, Janine was able to work with Ovation Pictures (albeit virtually) on another San Jose 48 Hour Film Project. Their short film Running collected several awards, including Best Film, and will compete virtually at Filmapalooza 2021.

Prepped 2

Team Ovation Pictures and their award-winning short film Prepped competed at Filmapalooza 2020 in Rotterdam.

Janine teamed up again with Ovation Pictures to participate in the San Jose 48 Hour Film Project. Their mockumentary short film Prepped won a number of awards, including Best Film. It will compete with films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2020 in Rotterdam.

Janine directed Patrick Meyers' K2 at the Dragon Theatre Company in Redwood City as part of its Second Stages Productions.

Janine attended the screening of A.F.A.M.'s The Furious Gospel of Johnny Tan at ToyXpo 2018 in Santa Clara. In addition to the screening, the film had its own panel and booth at the convention.

Toot Crunch Pop

Janine teamed up again with Ovation Pictures in Toot Crunch Pop, a quirky comedy for the My RØDE Reel Short Film competition.

Janine assistant directed Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Suicide Club for Silicon Valley Shakespeare. As part of her responsibilities, she designed and staged all of the magic sequences within the show.

Janine had the pleasure of workshopping a new play by Lauren Gunderson, The Fatales, playing the role of Supersmall. The show was part of the 40th Anniversary Bay Area Playwrights Festival.

After Dinner Life 1

Janine joined the Ovation Pictures team again in the 3-Day Film Challenge 2016: Horror Edition, part of the San Jose International Short Film Festival, in the short film After Dinner Life.

Teams were assigned a specific subgenre of horror and a specific prop or character to include in a 3-to-6-minute short film. After Dinner Life was assigned the genre of A Ghostly Tale and featured a ringing bell.

Janine teamed up again with Ovation Pictures to participate in the San Jose 48 Hour Film Project in the short sci-fi film Stonewood. The film won a number of awards, including Best Film, Best Actress, Best Musical Score, Best Directing, and the Audience Favorite Award.

It will go up against films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2017 for a chance at the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2017, Court Métrage.

Last Out still

Janine joined the Ovation Pictures team in the 3-Day Film Challenge 2015: Horror Edition, part of the San Jose International Short Film Festival, in the short film Last Out.

Last Out screening

Eleven teams were assigned a specific subgenre of horror and a specific prop or character to include, in addition to a postcard from the festival, in a 3-to-6-minute short film. Last Out was filmed in the style of Hitchcock and featured a cowboy hat.

Janine choreographed the opening sequence for Broadway West Theatre Company's The Children's Hour. It was an honor to be able to incorporate movement into Lillian Hellman's classic play.

42nd Street Moon gala

Janine had the honor of attending 42nd Street Moon's Annual Gala benefit, What We Did for Love, at Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco. The featured performer of the evening was Broadway and TV star Megan Hilty. It was such a treat to watch her perform!

Woodstock promo

Snoopy!!! enjoyed a great run at 42nd Street Moon, entertaining both audiences and critics. Janine had a blast playing the silent, sassy Woodstock and is now an official member of Actors' Equity Association!!

Janine is now an Equity Must Join, which means that she is eligible to join Actors' Equity Association, the professional union of actors and stage managers.

She is proud to announce that she has booked her first Equity contract! This November and December, she will appear as the feisty and feathery Woodstock in Snoopy!!! at 42nd Street Moon.

Carmelina 1

Janine enjoyed a very successful run in the West Coast premiere of Carmelina at 42nd Street Moon. She played Flo Braddock and Signora Bernardi in this musical version of the film Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell (which was also the inspiration for the hit musical Mamma Mia!). The show was both an audience and critic favorite!

My Fair Lady

Janine had a loverly time performing for one week in SF Playhouse's critically-acclaimed My Fair Lady. As the Female Swing/Understudy, she covered for one of the female ensemble members, playing a multitude of characters. Being an understudy always gets the adrenaline going!

Janine had a wonderful time performing in Zorbá at 42nd Street Moon. She played Athena, the Bellydancer, and Young Hortense in this musical about the celebration of life, lost love, heartbreak, and death.

Three Sisters 1

Janine had the honor of portraying Zenida Grundy and Mrs. Wickham in the American premiere of the musical Three Sisters at 42nd Street Moon. She is proud to have been a part of this enchanting and poignant NEA-sponsored restoration of Kern and Hammerstein's lost musical.

Janine was nominated for a Shellie Award for Supporting Actress in a Musical for her performance as Christmas Eve in Avenue Q at the Willows! The Shellie Awards were founded in 1979 to recognize outstanding achievement in the performing arts in the Central Contra Costa/Diablo Valley region.

She had a great time both attending and performing at the Shellie Awards but, unfortunately, did not win.

Janine enjoyed a successful three-week run as the finger cymbal-wielding and undulating Tintinabula in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at 42nd Street Moon in San Francisco, CA.

Avenue Q banner

Janine played Christmas Eve in the national regional premiere of Avenue Q at the Willows Theatre Company in Martinez, CA. The show received rave reviews and publicity, including a bus ad campaign, and attracted sold-out audiences for its six-week run.

Strega Nona 1

Janine spent six months on the road with the 2009-2010 National Tour of Strega Nona the Musical!, playing the title role of Strega Nona. The show visited 50 cities in 23 states, receiving great reviews and publicity.
